Bayamón The City of Pork Rinds (You can't make this stuff up!)
Less than thirty minutes southwest of San Juan and just a hair beyond Catano,Bayamón is many things to many people: a bustling business and manufacturing center; a retail extravaganza; a bedroom community; a country retreat. The municipality vibrates in so many directions at once that its hard to believe that Hato Tejas is in the same town as Buena Vista even though they are only a few miles apart. The best thing about Bayamón however is that offers itself as a gateway both east and west into the many facets of Puerto Rico's northern coast.
Symbols of Bayamón: The flag with its blue Latin cross, edged in yellow, on a white field to echo the symbols of the municipal coat of arms; a map of the municipality showing the locations of the twelve barrios or "townships;" the municipality's coat of arms featuring The five-tower crown, assigned to Bayamón as an exception for its extraordinary urban development, and the Sacred Cross of its patron.
